Xmas Party

Primary 7 had a fabulous time at our Christmas party this afternoon! We had a Just Dance competition and showed off all of our moves - it was very difficult to judge the winners! We played party games like Musical Arms and posed for pictures in the Christmas photo booth! Here we are having lots of festive fun.

Book Week November 2016

BOOK CHALLENGE We had a fantastic week celebrating our love of books last week. It was an exciting week. Mrs Coyle issued us the First Minister's Reading Challenge and we are going to set ourselves challenges to encourage us to read more. We will be set challenges by our teachers and we are allowed to set our friends and even the staff some dares. VISIT TO WATERSTONES On the Tuesday we visited the book store Waterstones at Braehead. This was a great opportunity to explore the range of books in the store and look at the range of books from some of our favourite authors. We took time to choose books that appealed to us and made some fantastic purchases. The class were excited to see another title from the author RJ Paclacio. We are currently loving our class novel Wonder by this author.
BOOK CHARACTERS Some of us chose to dress up as a character from a book. Here are some of our costumes.
VISIT TO LIBRARY On Friday we walked to our local library to explore the facilities we have right on our door step. We had a chance to choose books and read quietly. We enjoyed a short story from a member of the library staff. All P7 pupils were issued today with a membership form to be completed and returned to the library if pupils wish to join. This is a fantastic local resource which will help us with our book challenges as well as special projects we will have next year. We really hope more people begin to make use of their local library.

Primary 7 enjoyed an afternoon with their peers and staff from Renfrewshire Council who work with children with visual impairments. Mrs Quinn and her team provided an afternoon of activities to allow the pupils to experience what it is like for children trying to learn with a variety of visual impairments. We were very proud of one of our class mates who openly spoke about her own visual impairment. We were very proud of her. It was a very interesting and fun afternoon.

Primary 7 Term 1

So far we have had a very busy time in Primary 7. The Primary 7 year group performed the first assembly of the school year “Living Life to the Full”. It was a great success as the pupils had taken time to carefully learn their lines and they sang their class song “The Climb” beautifully. It was very well supported by our parents who gave us fantastic feedback on our performance. It was also a special day as the P7s were presented with their senior ties from the Parent Council which they now wear with pride. We have been very busy working on our topic Social Studies topic “India”. We created a learning plan where we had the chance to plan what we would like to learn about and how we would like to learn. We started with learning about where India is in the world and about the main cities. We created Kipper Ties which were inspired by the Paisley Pattern which originated in India. They look fantastic on our display. We enjoyed a visit from the SSPCA who came to talk to the class about caring for our pets and explain the role of the SSPCA. We found it very interesting and useful as so many of us have pets at home. HEALTH AND WELLBEING As part of our Health and Well-being programme we have been learning about the importance of hygiene. We have focussed on the need to shower and wash our hair to keep our bodies clean and healthy. We have to brush our teeth at least twice daily to ensure we have good oral hygiene. As part of the Health Calendar we have been learning about relaxation. It is important to relax and develop strategies to help us relax in our busy lives. We have really enjoyed doing the massage programme. Here are some of us enjoying giving and receiving massages.
We have so many exciting projects in Primary 7 including the re-launch of Kickstart in term 2 and our Food and Learning project where we are enjoying amazing cooking sessions with a head chef from a local hotel, Pascal. We are so grateful for his support and expertise. Look out for photos coming soon.

Welcome to Primary 7

Welcome to the start of our new session. We are really looking forward to our year in Primary 7. So far we have been working hard and helping our P1 Buddies to settle into the routines at school. We have enjoyed reading stories to them, playing games with them in the playground and taking them for lunch. We have a great number of roles and responsibilities in P7 including buddying and monitoring and we are working hard to be positive role models to the younger pupils. We created our Class Charter this week by reviewing the articles in the UNCRC. We worked together to select and justify the 6 most important rights for our class and then considered how the pupils and adults will respect these rights. We are really looking forward to our first assembly which will take place on Friday 2nd September 2016 at 9.30am. The PTA will present the P7s with their Senior Ties. We hope to see our friends and family there.
