Fun start to the New Year!

Primary 7B have had a great start to the new term. We have demonstrated excellent behaviour and have already been on two trips to Renfrew High as well as having a cooking session with Pascal, the head chef from the Glynhill Hotel. Pascal has introduced us to many new ingredients and fresh produce. We cooked tempura sole, potato rosti and homemade salsa. We have challenged ourselves to try new flavours and many of us have been surprised by what we like! We all made a very tasty bacon pasta dish and delicious homemade vegetable soup at RHS. We also enjoyed a visit from Derek Lockett, Development Chef from Brakes, who made a lovely creamy warming winter soup. In all our cooking activities we have been learning and refining a range of skills. We had to chop, peel, slice, cook and grate our ingredients. We listened very well and the high school staff were very impressed by our manners and listening skills. We all enjoyed the experience and most of us were impressed by our efforts. The P7s have been set a homework challenge to practise their skills at home. It is fantastic to see the children enjoying cooking at home while practising these essential life skills. Some children have already sent photos in and parents have noted in their diary to share what their child has been doing. We want to see more of these photos and comments! So keep them coming P7!
